We will practice and engage in:
*Live Composition
*Contact sensibilities ( How to use intelligent touch to inform our dance)
*The slow spiral of The Sky Inside

We are both interested in subtle nuances arising in creative dance practice. In this day-long mountain dance retreat, we dive into different yet complementary approaches to improvisational dance forms. We utilize the intelligence of live composition, somatic sensing and Contact Improvisation to create a culture of body based research that encourages connection and curiosity in solo, duet, and group explorations.

We will dance at Joanna's beautiful dance studio in Jamestown.

More information about the sessions:
Live Form Composition:

In Live Form Composition we discover new pathways in the body and new pathways through space while cultivating our connection to ourselves and each other. Through this practice of improvisational dance, clarity and precision emerge in our dancing bodies as we listen and follow the spontaneity of each moment that unspools before us.

The Sky Inside:
The Sky Inside is a slow and quiet spiraling into one’s body. It’s a dance that reaches into the depths of that body, to find imagination. Through sustained and thoughtful practice, the thinking mind quiets, and the intuitive mind is given space to step forward. This is the moment, when the intuitive mind and the imaginative body are working in tandem, that the dancing opens — to infinite possibility and wonder.

Advanced Contact- for Beginners Mind

This session we approach some of the subtle, revealing, nuances of contact practice, which are the secret sauce to in depth unlocking of slower, more present dance, which in time could grow and variate in infinite ways with a sustainable quality of body-presence. This practice will not be about the lifts or the tricks, rather it will go into research that is attempting to couple skillful touch with an openness to being surprised and ready in dance.

We can't wait to move with you and share this transformative nourishing Day of Dance with you!
